It’s strange how a conference meant to discuss the topic ‘women in society’ does not have a single woman participating.
The conference, reportedly held at the University of Qassim last year, was attended by representatives
from 15 nations, apparently all men.
Segregation between men and women in the gulf country has been widely criticised with women not allowed to drive and do many other things allowed by the opposite sex. This is due to the ultra-conservative Wahhabi sharia law.
They also need permission from a male relative or their husband to work, travel, study or marry and a woman’s testimony counts for less than that of a man in a court of law.
My question is this; How on earth would you have a meeting meant to discuss women without even one woman being in attendance?
I think it would better pass as a gathering where d faith of women was decided by men.beats me though if this is based on acceptable Quran teachings or just some extremist thing cause some practices seems to suggest women as lesser beings
